In my time I've been lucky enough to bump into Mr H in various hostilries and luckily there's always been a guitar at hand, he's shown me various ways of playing his stuff close up. Run for me is in D (but add the little finger on the 4th fret of the D string....rooting it I think he called it!!) with and then a fairly straight forward G, A progression....then Bm (GONE TOMORROW.....) A , G!! Hope that helps.

.....mind you, he played me the ORIGINAL version of 'Coming Home' the other week, which was written in a 'delta blues' style and with totally different words!!!.....blew me away that did.....better than the recorded version I thought!!!

Darlin'...it's one of those beautiful songs that's so beautiful it could probably make Ahhhnoold Shwarzenegger cry. I'd really love to know how to play it, or at least get some sense of it. When you do your US tour and I go to one of your shows, I'll probably be the one bawling during that song.

Darlin is in F sharp but i play it in G live the chords are G C D and the bridge is just c to d......................piss simple however there is a tricky descending major 7th change from the G to C

What made you decide to play it in a different key live?

First let me say that this is a great thread Richard. Thanks for sharing, especially the post showing efx pedals, guitar & amps. Great!
:study: :Hoorah :cyclopsani: ..>

Any chance of revealing the sound you got for 'Man On The Moon'? 8)

Hey Richard how about the string arrangement for Coles Corner, its the only thing stumping me. Seriously though I have always dug Baby's Back, especially the knocking on the door part (it's the little things). It doesn't sound too difficult but I would appreciate some direction. Thanks

we used cappo's to get the riffs.....the main one is the intro with me and shez playing with two amps pointing at one mike its a faff to put cappo's on for live and i can pretty much sing in any key so G was the best to play the riffs in open chords

whoa! didn't see this thread, the reason I came here in the first place was hunting for tab for 'The only road'...

bring it on hawley bloke.

just assume for a moment though that I am utter shite at playing the guitar. So keep it easy, none of this 'bend it up a quarter of a quiver and hammer off with your demi wave' stuff.

Been piddling around this morning playing along to 'Coles Corner' from the J.Ross broadcast. Now I've sussed its in D summat or other to a G fiddly and then A, the chorus I think has Em D Am........Its them tricky chords that Mr H is so fond of.....I can play most of 'em but havent got a clue what they're called.

give us a hand Mr H!!! :(

I think they are "maj7" chords.
