Going back to that cold night at the Devil's Arse - what would the chords have been to accompany Your Mum & Aunty Jean on 'I wonder If I Care As Much'? 8)

someone finally managed to activate my account, yeah! i've tried to register 3 or 4 times in the past, but to no avail. so here we go:

what are the chords for the beauty of a song called "run for me"?

i figured out it must be something like this (sorry for the bad format, the forum keeps on screwing it):

B E
Later here this morning, if the crowds hold back the rain
F# E B
I'll declare my intent to race again

Baby I've done running
E
I've cut myself a deal
F# E B
Gave myself a ladder, this time for real
E B
And I've got nothing on the inside left to charm, just look at me
E B F#
And I've got nothing to live up to and nothing to reveal
E B
Go on run for me
E B
Go on run for me
E B
Go on run for me because I can't take it back
G#m F# E B
Gone the summer gone the past and now it's done
E
Now it's done

it sounds good to me, but it's definitely not how richards plays it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXyvCoK5BMs

he plays some weird chords i can't identify (he starts playing guitar at around 1:50). these are definitely no "regular" B, G#m and F# chords. can anyone help out? maybe the writer himself?

many thanks!

Well - at least to my ears you pretty much nailed it, mouthman.

As to the B, G#m and F# chords, I cannot hear something particular weird. From the video one can see that Richard uses what hereabouts is called the "Fuhrmannsgriff", i.e. he puts his thumb on the low string(s) for the root note instead of barring the whole fret with his forefinger - if this explains anything you meant? :eh?

But I noticed that there is an E9 chord ringing in the "run for me" part of the chorus - could be solely from Shez' melody playing, but you can also play this figure in the rhythm, strumming E, then E9 with tackling the first string, 2nd fret, and then the B of the open second string just before moving to the B chord.

And, in the first line of the verse, you can also move from the B chord to a Bmaj7 (e.g. between "... this morning," and "if the ..."), which seems to be what John Trier plays on piano.

I don't know whether this is of any help to you. And I'm sorry if I now messed up everything about playing this wonderful song ... I'm not in any way an accomplished player.

Hi Gareth, welcome to the Forum. :)

I love that song. The music should be easy to find as it is from the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang soundtrack. I'm not sure how it compares to Richard's version. There is a link to the first page here. http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mt ... =MN0049862

If you only need the basic guitar chords, check this one:
http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/r/richa ... in_crd.htm

I would, however, like to suggest one little amendment:

Instead of

Am Am(maj7) Am7 Am6
A gentle breeze from... Hushabye Mountain

play

Am Am(maj7) Am7 D7
A gentle breeze from... Hushabye Mountain

Accordingly, change the Dm6 in the chorus to G(7).

Play the Am variations (don't know how you name it properly) and also the bridge/intro in 5th fret position (?) (again, I'm not good in muso talk, so just have a look at the vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frVOAnN0xTM )

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if someone had the chords for "Something is". I'm completely in love with this song, but i'm struggling with it on my guitar. As far as i remember, I only catched C#m and F#m for the verse and Bm for the chorus, but it sounds weird to me.

Thank you for your help!

Ahoj and welcome to the forum, meyro!

I will try a humble attempt to answer your request. For playing "Something is..." I suggest trying these chord shapes (I hope the figures can be understood) for the verse:

E A D G B e (strings)
- - - - - (x) (4th fret) - first chord (Amaj7 ?)
- - - - x -
- - x x - -

and

- - x - - (x) (4th fret) - second chord (Amaj7-something ??)
- - - - x -
- - - x - -

Mute the low E-string with your thumb or just play from the A-string downward (because that seems to be the root note).
Whether the 4th fret high E-string is necessary I am not sure. You can also let it ring (as you will be playing the E note already in these shapes on 5th fret 2nd string, and starting with the plain open Am-shape is much easier when you change to the second chord).

Play these two patterns three times (strumming each of them twice) and then Bm7 and E.

Chorus:
Bm7/// //// Amaj7 /// /// (3 x)
Bm7/ E/ Bm7/ E/ Bm7/ E/ Amaj7 ///

All this may not be exactly what Hawley and/or Shez are doing (you must at least be an octopus anyway to play the three intertwining guitars of the studio version simultaneously), but I remember Richard encouraging us to be creative in this thread somewhere... (as long as it does not end in utter bollocks)

This is really accurate! C#m sounded like Amaj7 but something was bothering me. Thank you Ignatz, i just need to practice now...

that will be a late reply, but it's a reply.

i'm still not too sure about how to play the B chord. it looks to me as if the e and b strings are open, g and d are both 4th fret and i can't make out what he does with a and E. i've also noticed that he takes off his pinkie after "ashes" and "i've got nothing..." as a sort of a transition thing.
