Could be worse - could be learning the drums to Telstar - I reckon your arms would be dropping off by the end!

It occurred to me today how nice it is to have a couple of guitars in the house, and to be able to just pick one up & have a play - even in my limited way. 8)

I was wondering, what do folks on here recommend as the best guitar cleaning cloths & polishes etc?

I was struggling a few weeks back with barre and moveable chords...so much so that I was even considering giving up my lessons and just accepting that I had reached my limit and just enjoy what I can do with basic open chords......but, I have now found a different way to go....I have decided to learn to read music and play the melodies, which I was doing with tabs...but have to say it is much more satisfying to do it with "real" music....... got a huge song book on order and am now able to play Sound Of Silence and Every Breath You Take along with a few Elvis songs........hopefully be able to add a few chords to the mix soon and make it sound better....either way, I am now enjoying it again and not feeling hopeless!

Barre chords are where most people give up. Once you're over the hump you'll be fine. Persevere!

Alan...that's what everyone tells me.......but only being able to use 3 fingers is a disadvantage.......might come back to it.......but enjoying what I am doing right now which is what counts........and I never plan on playing in public or with anyone else .... it's just for me :*:

Oh I see. Well if it's any help i used to cheat. Played a lot of nirvana back when I was starting out and used to just do two finger barre chords. cheat basically.

Starting to learn guitar at 58 it was just a whimsical notion I had of me sitting here on warm summer nights strumming along and pretending to be an aging Mary Hopkins....that's all.......haha.......and i can do that......different to everyone else on here I guess......but hey.......loving it!

It's a neat place to be - you just keep strumming and picking.

Having one of those ''bloody hell I'll never make it'' phases at the moment. Seem to have been at it for ages (nearly two years), taking lessons, practising daily, yet still crap at barre chords & still hitting wrong strings all over the place. :? I know I've got no inate musicality, but I'd at least like to be able to play stuff reasonably fluently. Am I just cack handed?
