The Scotty Moore story was amazing as was the James Burton one. Just spare me the Clapton one.

The ones that I listened to were done in 1983. Never heard a Cliff Gallup one. THAT would be amazing. The BBC's documentarys are always tops.

83 will be right and I am wrong on Gallup, it's the Jeff Beck one in the series and he raves about CG - liked Gene's records best because they had two solos

It's interesting how those programmes have stayed in my mind, albeit a little wonky, for 25 years. It's when i found out about how important James Burton was

I've still got the James Burton and Scotty Moore ones from 1983 on cassette tapes - I recorded them off the radio when I was 12. The James Burton one was great because it got me into the Everly Brothers 'Roots' album and some of Hoyt Axton's stuff

I think the series was presented by Alexis Korner.......

MR L,
Not to open a can of nits, I'm just not a fan of Clapton. I think he is massively overrated and just a total bore. I could back this opinion up with paragraphs of musically educated venom, but I won't. To each his own. I will say that Peter Green (in my ear) was the real British blues cat to get excited about back in the late 60s.

There's the link to the BBC 6 Music page with the James Burton BBC docu. Listening to it now. MAN OH MAN.....just AMAZING!!

just listened to a bit of the James Burton one while giving my daughter her breakfast..........great show!,
oh yes, peter green did it for me too, great tone & playing, i was brought up on both really, clapton has got mellower in recent years, but he has come out with some great stuff...fave album of mine is 'Just One Night' recorded live in tokyo. his version of ' Double Trouble' is outstanding, although Albert Lee's guitar playing on most of the tracks take some beating!! :D
