bloody hell...no more lending band members guitars then!.
Have you ever smashed any guitars up in a fit of rage / frustation / thrill of the moment / pissed etc..?

I did once at the Library theatre in a stupid moment of idiocy and i deeply regretted it,it was in the Treebound story days....... the ricky i had was a 1963 english edition 330 with an f hole instead of the slash....

I've been tempted some times, but saw sense at the last minute. would love to get cheapo guitar tho just to smash up for fun.
The Ricky my mates got has the f-hole rather than slash too. i bet it's from around the same time.
Have you done any recording with the new 12 string yet then?

Hey there Mr L

How is the Squier Classic Vibe doing?
Are you still gigging with it?

Hi Martin,
It's holding up well, gig it quite regularly now, it's got a few dings, one of the strap button always finds it's way loose but i've solved that with a bit of araldite.
I'm really tempted to get a bigsby put on cos i play a gretsch as well and always reaching out for the trem arm when its not there on the tele!. i'm just worried how much it'll alter the tone as the strings go through the body on the tele. heard that it doesn't alter too much tho.
I'm also tempted to uprade the pick-ups at some point, Bare Knuckle do a couple of sets i like the look & sound of.
At the moment i'm very happy for it. you can pick them up a bit cheaper now too, and they do a lovely sunburst one with binding too.

Good Stuff.

There's some guy with the same guitar who has put DiMarzio Twang King pickups into it and they sound amazing.

I'd love combination that sounds like the Luther or Bob Wotton sound in the live at San Quentin gig.

might have a look at them then! the Bare Knuckle flat 50's sound good, i'm after a Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton sound and they sound pretty spot on. so many choices tho!

I was looking at a 5129 for Sale.

It has the Dearmond pickups but it also has some mods that I aint so sure about.

It has Sperzel locking tuners put on to it and also a Roller Bridge.

I don't know much about Bridges?

Are such mods a plus or a minus does anyone know.

Or should modded guitars like this be stayed away from?

Cheers.

A lot of people modify their electromatics. One problem I find with my 5129 is the tremolo doesn't hold tune that well. I would imagine those mods were to sort that. Anything to improve it is a good idea. Do a Google for the Gretsch forum, they have an elctromatic section where they discuss mods all the time. It's a nice guitar by the way and the Dearmonds to my ears sound better than the pick ups on the other electromatics a bit 'purer' sound wise
