Hi everyone newbie to the forum here!
Been thinking of branching out into buying a 12 string electric and wondered if anyone had any advice?

In an ideal world Id have the money to buy a string Rickenbacker 360 but as it turns out a student with 3 part time jobs isnt the way to get rich....

Anyway been looking at the Danelectro DC 59 http://www.candyappleredguitars.com/product_info.php?products_id=1243&osCsid=a7d8a2a6345d6e3c1ca6eccf7fb969bf
and the italia rimini 12 strings http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Italia-Rimini-12-String-Electric-Guitar-Black-NEW-/290464755783?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV
Any advice on these or any other models?
Many thanks!

I tried out this fella once, through a fender twin. Schecter stargazer. It seemed to do the ric tone reasonable justice for the price (about 800 canadian dollars.) I don't much like the look of it though so left it alone.

This looks decent too, but I havent played it.

Burns re-issued the 'DoubleSix', a couple of years ago I think. (Suspect the one Shez uses is a 60's original though). Fairly heavy (kg's), but otherwise splendid, reasonable price , and has lots of accidental-singer-clobbering possiblities with the enormous headstock.

I got a Burns DoubleSix about three years ago from GAK in Brighton. I couldn't walk passed the shop without going in and having a go, in the end I did the decent thing and gave it a new home :) more info about these beautiful guitars in this thread: http://www.richardhawleyforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=9241&sid=31c2c36267a8853f2ecb067898e26272

Ive got a black Danelectro 12 bought about 6 years ago. Like you, I would like a Rickenbacker 12 but the Dano was a cheaper option and I saw Peter Buck of REM using one during some their Reveal album songs and tour (All The Way To Reno & Imitation Of Life).

At the time I bought it was around £250. Although it looks kind of cheap - with a formica style scratchplate, bolted on neck and volume/tone controls that look like they've been bought from a pound shop(!), it's a surprisingly nice guitar to play, with low action and a clear jangly sound. It also stays in tune well too. It doesn't have the 'thickness' of sound like a Rick (which might be down to Rickenbacker's different string arrangement) but it's a good, low budget alternative I think. Check out YouTube for some videos. There are some videos on YouTube if you type in Danelectro 12.

Think im stuck between the burns (the only I've so far played) the danelectro and the italia.
Ive got mate whose got a stargazer and although nice it wasnt for me.
That eastwood looks and sounds like a beautiful guitar though....
Going to see if any nearish shops stock them then try and have a blast.
