I know theres a lap steel thread somewhere... but does anyone know if theres any places online that sell vintage ones? tried ebay and it's usually cheapo Jagard / Artisan that come up or mega expensive gibsons.
I remember seeing a toilet seat covered national at guitar fest in leeds for £250 that i wish that i'd bought!
Vintage & Rare have a few but are quite expensive.

Reet, just 'won' myself one of these off ebay for the very nice price of 64quid! , my dilemma now is which tone bar to go for? i'm fancying one of the 'bar' type ones with the grips either side, but heard you can do slants more easily with the 'Bullet' type. , gonna try with a normal guitar bottleneck for the time being tho.
Anyone got any tips?

Got the Lap Steel yesterday (just in time for band practice), needs a new set of strings as the ones fitted are very light, but i gave it a blast and it sounds awesome. hopefully will get an airing at this weekends gig!

if you can get a flat bar rather than a tube or round shaped one you will find it easier to pitch at first is my tip

Cheers Richard,
Ordered a Shubb flat bar (SP2 i think) off the net, and some Heavy strings too.

Lap steel cleaned & now set up with a set of 15-58 strings, and a Shubb Robert Randolph tonebare (like a SP2 only longer). tuned it to open G for starters and it sounds fantastic! well impressed.
