Well after seeing Richard's gig in Norwich I became aware that whilst I have a very nice J-200, all my electrics are budget end. So I had the perfect excuse to buy something a little more pro end. Saved up some money and it is between these 3 but I can't decide which! So what do you reckon? As you can see, I like bling, love Gretsches and find the smaller ones more manageable. I'll probably completely ignore your opinions but they will make me more aware of how I feel about each guitar. :eh? Advice please?

p.s I'm also open to 'don't do it, save yer money' as I am even wavering on that ( it's a big buy for me)

so it's either a Gretsch White Penguin

or a 6120jr2

I have no idea how they're called, either, that's what I call them. Does it sound more like that other thing?

In that case 'like' might have been more appropriate than 'dig'...... :*:

I'd go and play all three, then and only then will you know which one is the best....
When I bought my first Tele I had my eye on this red one with a Bigsby looked fantastic, but had a go on a standard USA Sunburst, and I was sold, never looked back, my favourite guitar by far.

Not so easy to do that with gretsch guitars. Very few big stockists, if any. Know what you mean though. When I bought my strat I tried many of a big stock and surprise, a mex standard was by far the best.

It looks great. Is it a Duo Jet? And the metal piece where the arm rests, did it come with it, or is it an addition of yours? I'd never seen one before.

Yes a Cadillac Green duo jet. I added the armrest which is a Gretsch Penguin rest but the original Cadillac greens had them back in 57. So I figured they looked cooler like that.

It's a moot point now , but I just saw this and thought of this thread...

Maybe something to consider if you ever decide to add to the collection :D
