The electromatic collection has caught my eye too.
While the one everyone here is raving about is a G5120, which has Gretsch dual-coil pick-ups (and adjustable bridge), the only one I've seen in the Netherlands is a G5128, that has dual U.S. DeArmond® 2000 single-coil pickups (and a compensated bridge).
Quite different I thought, in particular considering the pick-ups.

G5120 -------------------------------------------------G5128

Has any of you tried/played both?

Ah, the very guitar I'd done a thread on the forum that is home base for me (lookit that post count!) when my husband got one of these.

The slight modification I wound up doing is linked on page two.

We finally saw one of the orange ones live and in person this past weekend. We'd been sure that would have been the preferable one. Maybe it was the finish on that particular one but the wood grain didn't show much, more solid color looking than stain. And I likely would have probably tried to customize the pickguard on that too.

He's still blissfully happy with this instrument.

Edit: Wait, maybe it isn't the same. I'm not sure this is a G5120.

this is the one i used on sunday (same as Hawley's), it's me dads, he got it for £450 with a gig bag & strings from sound control., it's got single coil pickups whereas the new range has humbucking pickups and a clear pickgaurd. other than that theres not much difference.

do like the eddie cochran one with the p90 though!!
