would anyone like to recommend a nice, not too expensive valve amp fpr playing lap steel through in pub sized venues, last guitar amp i had was a fender tremolux, not sure how many watts it was but it sounded lovely, but would be far too expensive for me now, all replies gratefully recieved

i've got one of these, can pick em up for around £450, got a Jensen speaker in,
theres a cheaper model kitted out in black tolex without the jensen for about 60 quid cheaper though.
15 watt, all valve, boost button for a bit of drive.
i've played pub venues with this and not had to mic it up, sounds ace. think it would be suitable for a lap steel too.
:D

Just picked this up today.
Its Marshall AVT 150X.
it's got Advanced Valve Technollogy
massive 150watt power.
I'm sure it'll do everything you need.
But thinking it may be too much for me as a novice.
I just wanted something for house use.
If you're interested I may let it go [£195]
check out the Marshall web page:
http://www.marshallamps.com/product.asp ... de=AVT150X
if interested, pm me.

It's all the different sound effects.
The web site dosn't really detail enough what it does.
Suggest you look at the download section.
This is the manual [in adobe], it details everything in there.
P6/7 for effects
P10/12 for what the knobs do

this is the link

Second hand '65 Deluxe Reverb RI - great reverb and great tremelo

Deluxe reverbs are truly amazing amps - they are rated at 22W but don't let that fool you - they are only 8 watts short of an AC-30, and we all know what they can do...

Once they are played in, they sound as sweet as anything.

What you need is a Peavey all Transistor Session 400 Nashville, thats what I use for guitar with a Line6 XT Pro in line, all the pro Nashville pedal Steelers play through.
It's a fantastic Amp.....I've had the valve thing....... Had valve amps rammed down my throat since childhood, dad was a serious player.
This 210 watt combo with a BW 15'' speaker blows most things off and then some. Very durable modable and kicks serious ass.

I had a renown years ago - but it always sounded too harsh. Got a twin reverb and was as pleased as punch. No difference in weight though

I love my little Epiphone valve Jnr. It cost me £85 new and delivered. I have modded it a bit and revalved it too. It is very loud, very punchy, and I can do small gigs with it too. It loves effects pedals, it is great for playing slide thru, and IMO is a bargain. Apparently the latest versions more or less have all the modifications that folks have been doing to them for ages, so the Version 3s are a top little amp for the money. I have a combo, but you can also get a head version. I like the combo, it gives a real warm tone, and also I can run it into a larger cab, when I need too. Harley Benton and Grainger do their own clones of this amp too.

Just my penn'orth
