I first heard it yonks ago in an advert for some holiday company - I don't know which version it was, female singer but not This Mortal Coil as the vocals were 'straight' rather than the lovely way Lis Frazer sings on their version.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Have a gander at Tim Buckley - Dolphins - Whistle Test on Youtube.
It'll have you in tears.

Dolphins is gorgeous - I also have a version by Terry Callier and Beth Orton which is pretty tasty.

Cheers for that Richard, but I've loved the Buckley version for 30 odd years now, and i guess that you always attach yourself to the version that you hear first, and not necessarily to the original. Beautiful song anyway.
