"Kevin Freeney (1919-1986) was a sign painter that operated in Dublin from 1930s onwards. Such were his talents, he hand painted over 700 shops, pubs and restaurants throughout the city. Not to mention vehicles, cinema listings and whatever else his great skills could adorn. Kevin’s family recently published over 300 images of his work from Dublin and beyond under the brilliantly named FlickR account A Gentleman of Letters. It’s a real treat to browse through the galleries and see how brilliant and varied Kevin’s work was — his contribution to the city’s identity really was immense."
