Haven't you got Gwyneth Dunwoody's daughter standing this time? It will an interesting election.

By-elections really bring out the bizarre, but it's great! Who wants a choice of crap n crap when you can have a basket-load of crapness. Think the 'cut tax on petrol and diesel' is being rather opportunistic though  wasn't there something on the news last week at the shocking profits that BP and Shell had made? Their cranking up the prices and letting taxation take the fallout. Me, I drive a car, I'm polluting the environment, make me pay for being a selfish git ... I much prefer public transport for commuting purposes and car gets used for those impenetrable places instead :D

What's the betting after she loses, that she launches a career as a glamour model?

That's not very sisterly of me is it?

She is Gemma Garrett - Miss Great Britain

http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,, ... 36,00.html

The whole family here are now getting post from the major parties on a daily basis. The Lid Dems refused to believe my Husband, they told him our son is his father, just because his name comes first alphabetically in the Electoral Role.

I will be glad when it is all over.

I answered the door last night, half expecting to see someone after my vote, I was right - it was Tamsin Dunwoody. She shook my hand and asked me if I was voting next week and if I had made up my mind. I told her I would not be voting for the Monster Raving Loony Party. Their plan to put Pirranha fish :fish: in the local river and make the local hospital specialise in fish bites is beyond 'raving loony'. :eh?

I was very impressed with her, she is the only person to see us in person. The Conservatives keep leaving messages on the phone, the Lib Dem's phoned us a 3 a.m. - hoping to catch us in. We were not impressed.

:*: ... Sorry, shouldn't laugh, but it reminded me... Labour kept doing that to my gran last year. Eventually she answered the phone without saying anything and sat it next to the ticking clock. They stopped phoning.

That's brilliant, I'll try that with the 'Would you like to have a show kitchen fitted' brigade :*:

* good plan... My Great Auntie Mary, just before she died, lived in a third floor flat and the same company kept phoning and offering to build her a conservatory. Eventually she got sick of this and said she'd love one, made an appointment, and when the bloke came out she met him outside and said, "I was just wondering, son, where you're going to put the floor..."

Those are the memories we've got to treasure :*:

That reminds me, my gran (god rest her soul) was a lifelong L.abour voter. After my Grandad died she had no transport as she couldnt drive. She was a dutiful voter though, but every election would ring the Tory candidate for a lift to the polling station, because in her words "they drove nicer cars. Its not often an old woman like me gets a chance to ride in a Jag is it?"

When I think that a recent Labour minister was famous for having "Two Jags" it still brings a smile to my lips. Mind you she's probably turning in her grave!!!

The result is in, a 17.6% swing to the Tories.

We only just managed to vote as we had to watch the end of the Celtic match. The Polling Station was in a different location and we got lost in the huge garden in the dark. We made it with 10 minutes to spare.

I had better get some sleep now.
