Just a reminder to folks on this forum to exercise your right to vote if you have elections in your area.
And just to add another thought;- whatever your view on national politics, vote on May 1st on Local issues as these are Local elections.
Ask yourself. Does my councillor work hard for my neighbourhood? If so vote for them, whatever party or non-party they stand for. If not, give someone else a chance.

I know there are some that say they wont vote, but the only good thing Blair said was "I'd rather people voted against me, than didnt vote at all"

I managed to get home in time to vote after a very long day. Always remember my gran telling me that women died in the fight to get the vote and have only missed voting when out of the country. Fancy myself as a bit of an historian so not just women, it took over a century of agitation, courage, transportation, imprisonment, hunger strikes and collective organisation to wield enough power to gain universal suffrage.

I am absolutely sickened to hear that Boris Johnson is now major of london - now that would definitely make my grandmother, great-grandmother and generations of my family throw themselves under a horse.

Anyone out there who voted in the london elections, and voted for Boris ... hang your head in shame. hang your head in f***ing shame. You have voted in a racist, sexist, homophobic, upper-class clown. Someone with no empathy or understanding of London and the huge problems a city of this size inevitably carries.

where i might have been weighing up london-coventry? london-coventry? with a somewhat resigned despair, suddenly coventry looks like an enticing prospect eventhough I feel the cleaver of cynicism slicing off a segment of my soul and depositing it on the A45 ring-road with every kilometer added to the clock.

Bastards. Every single person who voted tory and got that shit in, deserves the most severe pacifist slap i can conjure up. If I ever meet you at a gig and offer to buy you a drink, don't admit to voting tory just don't let me buy you a drink no matter how much i insist ... Bastards, bastards, bastards.

:*: Now, Now Hissy!

Like Catsnbooks, I managed to get to the polling station just before it closed. I didn't really feel like going after a long day and a meal out with a couple of friends. However, galvanized by thought of Emmeline Pankhurst, I did my bit and persuaded my two somewhat apathetic friends to come along too.

In the second year of the never ending democratic campaign here in the US. So experiencing some election burn out at the moment, but come July when this mess is behind us, I'll be all gung-ho again. Must prevent psycho-man from being bush part deux.

Like Cats I also believe strongly that people fought for my right to vote so have always 'done my duty'. This was the first time I've voted since moving from Yorkshire to Surrey and the first time I've been faced with a ballot paper with only the following three options

1. Conservative 2. UKIP 3. Local Independent

................ it felt odd ......

I love Dolly, the person rather than the music although she's done some fab stuff - she's had a couple of interviews lately about her book/literacy programme.

Got to concur with you cats - the people of London should hold their heads in shame for electing that fool .I get the impression he 'plays the buffoon' , you know all that scratching his head and looking befuddled - it's all a phoney act .

We get to vote in the by-election on the 22nd, it should be interesting. Between us we have received 4 letters from the Lib-Dems already  The tories phoned and left a message apparantly they will ring back. What a waste of money!!!!
