With the smoking ban andthe economic climate I think that the traditional boozer is in for a long hard slog. Unfortunately I suspect that all the chain, corporate get the students in and sell them two for one alcopops joints will continue to thrive.

Support your local pub!

i lament their passing also,it is a sad time for social life in britain for me i can't be arsed with loud clubs and hate pubs with over loud music and telly's in them....its NOT my age i have ALWAYS been like this i like a peaceful vibe where you can have a conversation and a laugh too...i don't mind a tune or two on an actual instrument or a game of domino's

There used to a lot more pubs around here. I don't think they can compete with the newer chains where they serve cheap food and let kids run riot. It is a shame.

The pub a few doors down from my house used to be full of underage kids who'd get slaughtered on two pints & then come by here & wake everyone up at 2am. Complained no end of times. It all changed when a girl was followed & murdered after one such night. Awful business.

For me its the cost - we frequent a few quiet country[ish] pubs round our way - they're not hard to find - just have the one [or two] - and drive home to attack the cans bought at he local 'offie' for about 60p per pint.

A pic of the Broken Cross Rudheath Northwich - on the edge of the town and the countryside - and by a canal - have too much to drink and get a free car wash on the way home..
