Apparently the Goverment are gonna print more money...funny, thats something my 6 year old suggested a while ago, he said "Mum, if we are all running out of money why dont they just print more?"

There would be more money around for important things if we tightened up on government expenses for politicians' second homes, stopped paying compensation to prisoners for early release and other important stuff like hard toilet paper, refugees if they are not allowed to stay in the country, and anybody who feels like making a racial or sexual discrimination claim against the police, local government or civil service, and most of all we stop paying billions of pounds to the EU for them to keep making rules about the shape of bananas, the number of leaves on cabbages and other really important stuff like the position of the smoke on non smoking signs.

Printing of money from thin air?, oh yeah that will certainly work. Printing money with no assets to back the meassure. This just add more numbers to the Treasury debt book. How many trillions exactly?. Didn't work in America, didn't work specially in Japan. What make people believe that will work here?.

actually as I understand it the banks CREATE money any way through debt - it bounces from bank accout to bank account but never actually exists there is a very small proportion of what they call fiat money (actual notes) and the old gold to currency system went by the by long ago. The problem arises when they get too greedy and create too much money through debt. Then it becomes all too apparent that they cannot possibly actually give people much of this money in actual notes so it all collapses in a heap. all smoke and mirrors eh?

I think it's time they put a wage cap on overpaid pop stars. And orphans should only be fed twice a day.

Twice!!! That's far too much. It's time the workhouses opened again and national service reintroduced.

Quite right, then we could make some money out of producing cheap football shirts and fancy trainers! Why should other countries children benefit from having a decent job?

My grandad was a civil servant storekeeper at the local workhouse. I have some of his notebooks and they make a depressing read; hopefully history won't repeat itself in this case.

Re printing money, I thought that the government could only print money within the value of its gold reserves/assets?
