It is a sport, something they do for entertainment, culture, is how they see it. The fact that is might keep the fox population at bay ? Simply a bi-product of killing for laughs. Anyone who would inflict intolerable suffering on an animal in the way they do is evil, it only makes them worse in my view that they claim there right to do this by proclaiming it as 'sport' and 'their culture'.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

I know I am probably going to get hammered on this forum for saying this but........

There is a balance to be achieved.

I am not Tory (actually Irish) nor do I fox hunt. However, I do know a lot of farmers who loose a lot of live stock lambs etc to foxes. In certain parts fox populations have sprung out of control down to factors like building boom, loss of lands and easy prey of livestock. These people feel that they have a right to cull these animals. There is an argument here. We do not live in a balanced environment and unfortunately the unfortunate animal suffers.

I think the big Tory pull in the country is that they build on the idea that city folk seem to be ' bunny huggerish' without perhaps understanding the facts on the ground.

A days fox hunting is also a good boost for local pubs, restaurants etc.

Don't hammer me just presenting an alternative view.

maybe foxes do need culling, but fox hunting is not an efficient way of doing it and is a horribly cruel way of doing it. If they want to fill the pubs I'm sure they can dress up in their silly clothes and do something that doesn't involve downright wanton cruelty. In Essex where I live I know of a farm that was actually breeding foxes because there weren't enough for the hunts, what's that got to do with the needs of the countryside?!! I am not lambasting you by the way but these upper class twits that do such things. Many 'real' (not wealthy gentrefied landowners) local farmers were relieved to not have those idiots destroying their fields and hedges

If we're going to cull foxes, make it quick and shoot them. Don't play to the basest level of human nature and sink to torture and gloating over killing something.

I do agree completely

I can just see the political and economical argument (or excuse) if ye know what I mean.

Yes i can see those too but I don't think they're valid.

The idea that the best way of keeping the fox population down by triumphantly ripping them to bits one at a time then tidying up afterwards (and i don't for a moment think that you go along with this, I'm not having a go) and dressing it up as doing the countryside a favour is abhorrent.

....ahhhh, the world through the eyes of an inbred, upper class fuckwit is a strange one indeed. Y'know, I live in the countryside & not once have I felt the urge to pull on a red coat & breeches in order to tear a fox limb from limb. Yes - foxes can be a nuisance, yes they should be culled - but not in that fashion.

that's a bit like the old Pheasant shooting. Have you noticed Pheasants are the stupidest animals around? They run in front of your car and then turn around and do it again! I suspect they have been bred that way so as to be on a par with the upper class inbreds that shoot them!
