Is it just me or does it get earlier each year? Don't get me wrong, I love it and very excited cos it's my sons second Christmas, but my birthday is in August and it seems as soon as that's done everyone's going on about it, shops have cards and wrapping paper in and adverts start on TV!! I just think that it's loosing it's meaning, it seems to be all about how much is spent and if kids get the latest computer or not. Also, how the heck can people go to a restaurant on Christmas day? I think that's awful, it's a day to be at home with family. Then as soon as it's over, the sales start!! It's just about money. I used to work for Boots in Leeds and a woman seriously asked me if we were open on Xmas day!! Couldn't believe it!!!! If I had my way shops would shut for a week ha ha!! How much stuff do people need, it's all so greedy

I couldn't agree more. It seems that over the few years, I get back from my summer holiday at the end of August, and I see Christmas cards and decorations in some of the local shops.

By this time of year I am pretty sick of seeing the stuff, and its still two months away. I think that Christmas is little more than a commercial moneyspinner now. The true values (religious or not) have been eroded to the point that I question its very existence.

I so wish that Christmas would be kept to December only, as it may help retain some of the charm that has become lost in the mire of commercialism. What really drives me mad is the speed that shop shelves are cleared of Christmas stuff to make way for easter eggs... :x

Cheers, Steve.

most of our xmas shopping has been done... sad i know but it's good to get it out of the way.

i do get pissed off seeing xmas adverts in october though, mid november should be the right time for them to start.

Somebody has set up a christmas shop in our town centre - normally I love all the lights and tinsel but I couldn't get out of there quick enough on Saturday- FAR too early for me.

I shall probably leave my christmas shopping until after the Crucible gigs - I won't be able to concentrate on much before then anyway

I must admit I have done most of mine while some sales have been on cos I only work part-time gotta cut down I'm afraid, but I really think about what I'm gonna get people and they always get what they want so there it is the thought that counts :)

No no no, Christmas starts at home when that tree goes up on the 10th December & finishes on the 30th when it comes down again. Why the fuck does it drag on for months  Aaagh it annoys me every year

I love Christmas me - this year I want a Johnny Seven OMA.

It's funny how times change - in the early 60's this was my dream toy - a few years later with the daily coverage of Vietnam on TV - detailing each day the dead and the wounded - I was a peace loving hippy by the age of 11.

Christmas in our house starts on the first Saturday after December 10th - my son's birthday - it never felt fair to put up the Christmas tree before his birthday. Very traditionally, we leave the tree up until twelfth night and usually start the Christmas shopping around mid November, have 18 round for Christmas dinner and I love Christmas Day :santa: :rendeer:
