Mick, lots of love to you and your wife.

If this helps, there's a lot of talk about the nausea from chemo. I found that the best thing is to constantly bring in little meals. Things your wife might have loved before won't appeal, but other things might and it changes. She might not be up to sitting at the dinner table. It helps to bring in a tray with lots of little things on it - a few crackers, applesauce, a tiny bit of soup, buttered noodles - lots of mini meals. Just keep trying lots of little bits of all sorts of things that seem mellow. Your wife will feel very loved and taken care of.

Wishing you lots of strength to deal with everything.

My friend swore by those accupressure bands you can get for travel sickness and morning sickness to combat the nausea caused by chemo. Think you can get them from boots.

My friend had her lymph nodes removed as part of her breast cancer treatment. As I understand it, lymph nodes help distribute fat around the body and she found it quite physically uncomfortable when she ate fatty or dairy food afterwards. She tried to restrict the amount of fat and dairy she ate and felt much better. Might not be the same for everyone though. Thinking of you and her Mick, pass on my best. x

In a way food's quite important - me and mum used to plan meals, especially for chemo day itself - some of the effects seemed to be worse the two following days. She said it helped the day go knowing that she had a gourmet treat to come home to. But it doesn't have to be fancy, just things that are real favourites. I did mini crepes suzette and ice cream one day cos it was her favourite. And little portions too. like small sandwiches and mini bites as Karen suggests.

She may have a sore mouth too, so stock up on the Hagen-Daz - cooling, soothing and goes down easily.
Best wishes.

Ginger beer is my tip to help with the nausea. I couldn't drink tea or coffee and chocolate didn't taste right.
