No insights to offer, but wishing you a speedy recovery.

My other half had a hernia op a couple of years back as did my boy – he was born with one. My son's hernia was inguinal (in his bollocks to you and me) and my blokeys was in his stomach. I think my other half was up and about in a couple of weeks and felt right as rain after a month. But seems I had both my kids with a c-section, I sort of took it for granted that he'd just get on with it! Doesn't mean I was short of sympathy... I'm just not a very good nursemaid. On reflection, this is a bit of a shit answer mate, sorry... x

And with the "no lifting over 8-10lbs" rule for the first few weeks, I guess I'll put away my Teles for a while and play these

Getting a bit apprenhesive now, heard a couple of horror stories.

I've heard that 'don't lift anything heavier than a kettle' rule & was told by a medical practitioner that it's rubbish, Just don't go lifting the wardrobe & pushing the car. You'll know what feels too much. Just be sensible.

Had a pre-op the other day and was reassured somewhat. Ward Sister said that though I had been told they cant do keyhole on me, the cut they make in the open op is not that much bigger than the combined ones that they do for the keyhole. Plus keyhole goes all the way through with more risks of damage to internal etc, whereas the open one goes through the top layer of skin and muscle only.

Said that the hospital send you home with 5 days worth of painkillers, and she would bet that I only used half of them.

I hope shes right.

Mind you the ward I am being sent home from that same day is up a flight of stairs and a looooong walk from the car park, where my wife will be parking to pick me up.

Dont even have to starve myself either. In at noon, can eat well till midnight, they encourage you to have a light breakfast at 7.30am, then drink black tea or clear stuff till 11am. Not beer though.

Plan to do more of that when I am recuperating, if I can with the pain meds I am on.

Weekend after is a great TV one. Wimbledon and Glasters.

And my family waiting on me hand and foot.

Payback time
 :?:
