NHS workers on strike yesterday and working to rule all week – that means only working what they're paid for and taking a lunch break!

Independent review body has recommended a 1 per cent pay rise across the board but the government refuses to pay it because they say it will mean job cuts. Funny how when an independent review body recommended MPs get an 11 per cent rise, there was no argument and it was paid.

Went to my local picket line with a tray of cake yesterday – I think it's important that we show support and tell them how much we value them, even if the government doesn't. x

Think you are dead right. This is all about setting the health service up to fail so they can sell it off to their mates.

Look at the Care Uk strike down your way, in Doncaster. Brilliant people standing up for care against the private equity firm leeching off their service.

What did Bevan say? There will be an NHS as long as there are folk to fight for it. Isn't it about time now? x

I have a friend who is a specialist at one of the big London Hospitals. He tells me they are already selling off the potentially profitable bits of the NHS. All that will be left is the departments where the tax payer will bear the cost. I despair I can only hope people wake up and that Labour grow some balls to reverse things. It's heartbreaking to see all the noble qualities of our society being flushed down the drain for a few quid.

The Health workers are the epitomy of those Noble qualities.

Hhave a good day tomorrow. Arthritis flared up and am struggling to stand for more than 20 minutes so not up to it. We were due to be on strike this Tuesday but Unison folliwed GNB and Unite in falling fir the empliyers new shit offer. Should have stuck to it and joined the nurses. My iwn job looks certain o go in savage cuts and right wing councilideology - apparently volunteers can do my job and these past few years of waiting fir scraps from the table isn't going to ever be caught up by me. Never cquite imaginef being a librarian would be considered obsolete by iur wonderful elected representatives. Fuckibg Phillistines

I feel your pain. We should never have called off Tuesday. The offer is crap, a bloody insult actually. Everyone at my work is fuming. We've already lost a days pay, we might as well see it out now. And it would have been nice to stand alongside our fellow union members in the Nhs, albeit only once. Would've given us heart and resolve, but then isn't that why our so called leaders called it off?

You are a London bod too are you not? Which borough? I am Tower Hamlets, yes, our reputation goes before us! You got a good rep fighting for you? Happy to help if I can. How do you feel about going? If you don't want to say out loud, you can PM me.

It's shit times we're in, where public services don't matter, where everything is judged on the scales of profit, where people and their needs are the last consideration. The borough I work in is child poverty capital of the uk. It's tragic. The east end. Generations after the slums, the poor houses, the Barnados schools, and our kids are still the poorest in the uk.

We need to fight, if we don't everything that has been won for the working classes will be gone. If we don't try, history will judge us harshly, the generation who gave up in an era when things could still be changed. I'm aggrieved by it, proper cross. How the fuck can we let them away with it?

I shall wave a wee banner for yous, expano, and see you there Christina! Xxx

Was really pissed off the strike was called off. The so called new offer is not materially different but it reduced the impact multiple strikes would have had. Feel calm about work at the minute. I feel I've made a strong written and verbal argument and its not personal which makes a difference. I've also had a lot of suppirt for the work I do and there is a fairly long lead in so it's not immediat. My job in particular has provoked quite a lot of protest and shock amidst proposals which will see.most of my colleagues lose their jobs. Will have a better idea by March and I guess my feelings may be different then. I'm fortunate my wife hdas a better paid job than me so we would manage. Thanks for your kind words Helen

I went down to London for the March. My first March in London. I have done a few in the North West, mostly anti-fracking Marches. I am more involved with my Union theses days. I will represent the PCS at a Climate Change meeting in Manchester on the 18th November. I am not looking forward to doing a speech but no one else volunteered.
