http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/oct/05/glastonbury-festival-2015-tickets-sell-out

Tickets for next year’s Glastonbury festival have sold out in record time.

Tens of thousands of music fans were left disappointed after the £225 tickets were snapped up in just 26 minutes.

Maybe onto something here - Craig book The Greystones for the weekend before Glastonbury - bill all bands as 'to be announced later' - and it will be their pre Galstonbury appearance - charge £50 per ticket per night - and watch the money roll in.

My legal team say the fact that the gigs are Pre Glastonbury in date only need not form a part of any promotional material.

I'm currently running an event at £50 per ticket called "punch a Facebook employee to within an inch of their worthless existence". It's a sell out. I bought all the tickets myself.

Watched quite a bit of Glastonbury 2015 on the Beeb. Really enjoyed The Libertines surprise set,
The Maccabees and Gaz Coombes, but I thought Jamie T smashed it! ..>

I don't get it. There, I said it.

Astonishingly expensive (yes, yes, cheap if you add up how many bands you see and divide it by the total), camped next to drunks falling over you in the middle of the night, listening to them farting and shagging and talking shit til 6 in the morning, mud, dirt, chemical toilets, fifty thousand people standing in front of you in the boiling heat/pissing rain, watching it all on a TV screen because some c**t with big hair is standing on your toes.

Listening to people drone on about bands you've never heard of, like suddenly it makes them interesting or helps them develop a personality.

Glastonbury is to music what Top Gear is to telly.

Can I go now?x

No - that was just getting interesting...

Love the fact that plenty of folks go there who are really into the recycling thing - the amount of stuff they leave for recycling is admirable - tents chairs clothes as well as the standard glass metal and plastic.

The bands do it all for free - donating their fee to the worthy causes.

And there must be no austerity thing going on - all these folks have enough cash to see them through it all - and get back to work in the City or sign on at the House of Lords come Monday.

Festivals over a couple of thousand are generally shit - too many people not enough toliets - even the old Teddy Bears Picnic had a few nobbers floating around - from what I can recall - luckily massively out numbered by the stalwart types that can take a few pints and not become an absolute arshole.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

You couldn't pay me to make me stand in a field to watch bands I'd never heard of - and watch the ones I had heard of being shite.
And queueing for chemical toilets? Don't get me started.

Looking at it briefly on the news I was thinking how awful it all looked there :Oink: I suppose that's why everyone takes drugs, because I'd need a pharmacy full to enjoy standing in the heat with so many sweaty strangers.

What a bunch of miserable old fuckers we are!!

I went to the End of the Road last year, which I have to say was lovely (apart from the toilet thing) so I don't think they're all the same. I found it very charming – in a Victorian pleasureground, built by a society gay man who constructed gardens for like-minded people to cruise in.

H played a DJ set in a woodland glade which was very lovely (from what I can remember).

One of the highs/lows of the weekend being a drunk 25 year old telling my children that their mother was hot, causing rolling around on the floor hilarity, puking noises and open mouthed incredulity. The incident is still regularly brought up by 15 year old as an example of the completely ridiculous and dangerous things people do when they've had too much to drink and why you wouldn't catch him dead drinking alcohol as it quite obviously turns you into a complete lunatic.

Anyway, maybe we should have one of our own. Get on it, Monkeyboy. One with chairs and toilets where people haven't shat on the seats. And gin and cake. xxxx

I'm from Glastonbury but I haven't been since 1999. The year of Joe Strummer and Lonnie Donegan! Ian Dury was also meant to play but was too ill on the day. RIP.

Don't get me wrong, Helen has it bang to rights, but heading ever increasingly faster to 54 I'm starting
to think should it be on my bucket list; never actually been? But then I see everything that Helen
mentioned, plus the feckin flags, which would drive me up the feckin wall....and maybe not!!

Did enjoy it on the Beeb though........they omit the flags.....most of the time!
