...but about 49% of us are. I haven't been on here in a while but I always felt a kinship with you all for some reason, and I'm really worried about our election tonight. This campaign has made be face the fact that there are a lot of horrible people in my country. As a straight white male I don't see racism and oppression upfront very often, but this really opened my eyes. Please send some good vibes our way and hope for the best. Some good has come out of it all as I feel more compassionate to others and want to fight for what and whom I love more than ever. People here are worried and very sad and I hope I wake up to a better America tomorrow. Peace to you all and hope to talk to you soon.

Tony

The last test of outward looking liberality here gave us the "swivel eyed loons" and an often overt racist view in the ascendancy. We know too well the sense of despair. To coin a phrase "God bless America, God bless us all". Am listening to REM Lifes Rich Pageant and remembering that is just as much America as Donny "coronary face" Trump. Your attitude is where there is hope

I'm in absolute shock, but not surprised. I've never been more embarrassed to be an American.

I´m half American and in such times I feel for America. Woke up to a text from my American mum with the vote result. Big shock. Don´t be embarrassed. Never give up hope.

All the Americans I know - bar a couple - are fantastic, liberal minded people. Outside of this bubble though, there's a scary, uneducated mass - very like the Brexiteers over here.

After mourning the outcome though we all need to be active, organise and fight the battle anew.

Organise.

It ain't good, man. It ain't good. But we're never going to stop. It's time to double down.

I've pinched this from a trustworthy news source :

US voting turn out about as bad as the EU referendum
231,556,622 eligible voters
46.9% didn't vote
25.6% voted Clinton
25.5% voted Trump
Clinton actually got more votes than Trump but the way the US work it out means she lost.

Thanks Denise
