Best wishes to your mother Denise, hope all is ok.

Thank you - my sister has let me know things are going well, considering the various health problems she has, she's a tough old bird!

I'm one of the winners in a big international photo competition...only a little winner, but a winner nonetheless.

Here's the link

Here's the photo:

Taken from the drummer's van window while he and Stu the bass player were getting chips after a gig we'd played in Nottingham.

So as 'location manager' he should get half of the prize?

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

The lovely Helen got me a photo job at the "Show Racism the Red Card" event at Stoke's Bet 365 Stadium today. Lovely event, lovely people and i got to take zillions of photos, so all good.
Here's one of a bloke who'll be managing in the Championship next season....(I'm a Port Vale fan. Had to have a hot bath after I got home)

Not sure the how happy are you is the right place for this - gutted to lose my Mum today after a long illness, but happy that she is now at peace and not in pain. Happy that my family rallied round and ensured the end was as she would have wanted (having been out of it for a couple of days she had half a glass of wine and then left us peacefully). The carers, the NHS, almost everybody has been so kind, helpful and respectful.

(The only horrible part has been two of my parents neighbours objecting to cars and ambulances parking on the road, perfectly legally, outside their house - some people are so . . . . . .)

I'm sad but happy that for mum the end was a good one.

So sorry to hear your news, Denise. I know just what you mean about 'happy', because having positive moments, even at the saddest times, brings great comfort. Take care x

Just returned from a great weekend in Sheffield. Our hotel room had a full on view of Park Hill.

Saw The White Crow (about Rudolf Nureyev's defection) at The Showroom cinema on Friday ... great for arts films.

Saturday we queued for a couple of hours in the sun and saw the street artist Phlegm's exhibition in an old knife maker's warehouse. The venue added to the surreal atmosphere. Met lovely local people in the queue too ... great banter. We then walked to Fagan's for a pint. Never been before, it was lovely to listen to the musicians playing in the backroom. Shame we had already eaten, as the food looked good.

Saturday evening we saw Standing at the Sky's Edge at the Crucible. Blown away is an understatement. The different interpretations of Richard's songs was superb. Great to hear ladies singing his songs, and some of the harmonies were heart breaking. The script, actors and musicians are ace, and the standing ovation well deserved. And the Standing at the Sky's Edge golden ale went down well too!

This morning we stopped at Endcliffe Park before hitting the road to Scotland. Had breakfast in the café, and visited the interesting memorial to a crashed US bomber behind it. Wish we could have stayed longer. (It was interesting to see the roundabout and bouncy castle there that featured in the video for 'Serious' !)

So many more places we want to see ... hopefully we'll get tickets if/when Richard tours the new album, to give us another excuse to visit Steel City. Got my Hendos too (the h is silent!) :D

Got photo accreditation for Cambridge Folk Festival - and bagged a cheap Air BnB about 100 yards from the festival site!
