My back went about 7 weeks ago, I've taken every tablet under the sun and now seeing a chiropractor who charges 5 bars of gold bullion per visit. She told me I've got a trapped nerve, hence the numbness in my foot. I've also developed a limp which someone commented on at work saying 'You're like you've shit your pants or just had a good bumming'!...but do I complain? No, I get on with it because I'm hard unlike the knobend at work who I had to bollock yesterday for missing 3 shifts at work without ringing in......his excuse......'err, I failed an exam and it got me down a bit'!!!!!! |

Dave, you little soldier you Kidding aside, really sorry to hear your back's still playing up - very nasty (I had an inflamed nerve a couple of years ago and took about 3 months to sort). Try your GP again - I got referred to a physiotherapist which saved on the chiropractor costs - and there's a gel you can get I think with diclofenac (??) which is anti-inflammatory and saves you having to injest too many vile pills. Also try and get referred to any occupational health person at your work - sort out the ergonomics of chair, desk-height, keyboard/mouse. And make sure you rest! |

Nearly a year on from this original post, this morning I found myself in A&E after basically not being able to get out of bed, put my foot to the floor, dress myself, cough, sneeze, twitch without the feeling that I had an axe wedged in my lower spine. On finally seeing a doc they told me there wasn't a lot they could do apart from recommend I kept taking a lorryload of painkillers and anti-imflamotaries including dyhydrocodiene, diclofenic, paracetamol and diazapam!!! I feel like .......... |

Sorry to hear that Dave - perhaps you should look at alternative therapies - there must be something out there that can sort you out? |

try acupuncture...I think I might be in the same boat, I thought I'd pulled a muscle, but that was two weeks and I am still walking around like a cripple. Everybody stops feeling bad for you after 3 days and expects you to get back to lifting 50lb sack of potatoes Bastards. |

All at the same time - how bigs the lorry? Dyhdrocoedine & diazapam? I love the NHS... Any way I can't take the p*$$ - being a decrepit 52 - I suffer from the occasional bout of gout - that requires influx of diclofenic and abstinence from alcohol - knowing my luck it'll start next Thursday night... |

You could ask Cats to wear her "killer heels" and walk up and down your spine? Probably won't stop the pain but it would take your mind of it! |
