the best way to set it up is to ignore all the sync options and manually add all the tracks and albums you want from the software ie. the Zen Media Explorer. By hooking the device up to the computer nothing should be updated to your player. A window may pop up when you do asking you to synch the player with your media library, click no and add tracks manually from the media explorer, sounds more complicated than it is its a pices of piss really.

Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Got a good deal on a charger - bought with the player you get it half price :D That was Argos. Found out after, it's even cheaper from Amazon

And there's me with my Dansette and a stack of 78rpm records...... :*:

I do own an ipod - no trouble with it and they are handy but they don't sound half as good as a record

Sometimes I feel I'm barely hanging on by the fingernails with all the WAP this and 3g that...Home hub...etc..

Everyone laughs at my 40 gb iPod cos it's so big and clunky apparently...

My iPod Touch is larger than the old 40 gb iPod because of the screen, although it is fairly slim. I have the Nano as well but haven't used that in ages as the Touch is so good. And I couldn't bear to have the Shuffle as I like to decide what I'm listening to rather than let the machine choose for me. The original iPods are not that big really, if you've room in your pocket for a packet of fags then you've room for an iPod.

There is talk of a Nano sized version of the Touch.

It shouldn't be though, most of the time they are good machines, when they do a new software release they can be a pain in the a**** until they sort out the bugs, but from the point of view of just adding music to them they are reasonably simple. I do recommend that people use the manual synchronisation mode rather than automatic though, then you are in control of what is on there.

New MP3 I just bought is great, can't fault it. Feel rather guilty for liking it really! It doesn't smell as good as a Dansette though. :?

Trouble with a Dansette is that you can't fit it in your pocket, and then there's the hundreds of 12"s to take with you. Maybe they should design an application for MP3 players to take away the sterile sound and inject some of the hiss and crackle.

I've just wasted half my evening trying to sort out my soon to be 14 year old's iPod and it is bollocks

I hate iTunes anyway, but having loaded all the shit on we still can't sort out copying to his iPod which is costing a fucking mint. Soooooooooooooo

Give me the Dansette any day and I'll have a great time with it. Was making the point just this evening.

Dansette - still workd 50 years on

iPod version whatever the fucking hell it is - works, well not at all yet, but being more positive.........until the next version in a couple of years turns up

Connect the ipod, wait a bit for it to work out it is connected, (a new screen appears with a picture of the pod and assorted tabs) and it should automatically copy the music over, however if you set it to manual mode just highlight the songs and drag them over and on to the iPod icon in the sidebar menu.
