I can't be expected to spend a week on holiday later this year without my Hawley collection. Therefore I suspect I will have to buy one of these new fangled pocket gramophone devices you're all talking about. So, in words of one syllable can a kind person tell me what I need?

All the music on my computer is transferred from CD, rather than downloaded from itunes etc, so will this transfer ok to a P-Pod3-player or whatever it's called? What sort of specification is considered best? Something basic will be fine, don't want to spend the earth. Image Thank you

If you don't want to spend a lot of money get a Creative - the Stone is small, holds 2 GB of music and easy to use.

Or the iPod Nano which shows video as well as photos and plays music.

Or the Creative Zen Eoin was talking about (see link) which is well cute.

http://www.johnlewis.com/230443504/Product.aspx

And anything that is on your PC as an MP3 will transfer to virtually any of these items, hence their sub-name MP3 players.

If this Zen is like the Stone then the software is actually on it and downloads automatically to your PC from the player, and it is very straightforward to move music over. (JL don't have the Stone but it is a little cheaper as it has no screen).

Thanks for the info. They're not half as scary as I thought. That Creative Zen doo-dah looks just the thing. I've come over all gadgety...Might have to visit a shop.... :thumright:

Do you know what...I do think I will! They seem to have it all, and price isn't frightening either. Might still be able to afford that luggage I wanted for the bike too....Roll on the holiday :thumleft:

Oh dear, one slip of the finger & I seem to have bought a Gramo-phono-pod. Went for the Creative Zen. Little devil is charging up as we speak. I love toys... :*:

Instructions? :? ... is that the little booklet that tells you what to do but I tend to abandon, ignore, lose, throw in the corner, feed to the cat, etc on the basis that it's a lot more fun to just bash the buttons and wiggle things about?

I needed a new phone and chose one with an MP3 player. My son eventually managed to get some music uploaded on the SD card (I had to buy an adapter) Now I have the songs on twice but they don't all work. One day I will put some credit on the phone and see if that works, I have had it over a month. All this technology scares me. :(

:Hoorah P-Pod-3 player up & running. First track out - Valentine - of course. all my photos on there & probably lots of junk from computer!
Think I shall enjoy my holiday, so long as I don't spend the whole time creating playlists & slideshows  One brief question, when I put new tracks on the computer, will the player detect them when I plug in to the computer..I mean it won't duplicate everything else as well will it?
I suppose it's smarter than that...Smarter than me too :?
