i'm not there

me an my gal went to see it last night in manc. i enjoyed it lots but wondered if it would make sense to my missus who avowedly can't stand bob (it's his voice). she loved it and said it didn't matter that she didn't get the references or relevance of particular scenes/lines and that it was a top film all round.

good soundtrack too, but there is debate about whether they stick too closely to the originals. discuss.

go see quickly, i doubt it will be in cinemas for long. last night in manchester tonight. it's in sheffield somewhere i know.

i got home and immediately put the '66 free trade hall cd on........of course.

1. They do, but I suppose if they drifted away too far we might not recognise them.

2. Haha so did I !!

I saw the other night, thought it was a bit precious, but I enjoyed it, got quite confused because I really fancy Kate blanchett...

Christian Bale I liked the best, thought the bit were he sang Pressing On was really impressive!

I think knowing too much about Dylan takes away for the film though, you can end up ticking boxes of quotes, limes, references and things, and the innaccuracies (deliberate I think but confusing) can sort of niggle at you.

Is that C P Lee of Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias fame (whose single 'Kill' is one of life's 90 seconds of pleasure)?

The brother wasn't the guy that 'shouted' out was he by any chance?

i love the film - especially the whole Richard Gere section where he's wandering through a town which is essentially the Basement Tapes come to life. I thought the whole thing was beautifully done. Seen it twice.

I saw it after our Thanksgiving dinner in Soho, New York, when it had just come out. So the theater was packed and stuffy and everyone was stuffed.

We got a few of those knowing laughs from some of the people in the audience, some of them might have been there then. Others, maybe just Dylan obsessives.

I had mixed feelings on it. In the end, I was wishing we'd just gone home and put some Dylan on. I thought the originality was great and some of the acting superb. But it didn't work for me as a film. I would see it again on video, definitely a lot going on that deserves more attention than a brain on tryptophan.
