This is England is apparently set in the "midlands" town of grimsby :?

whilst shane may well be the scorsese of the midlands, it is streching a definition of "midlands" to include grimsby - which after all is quite northerly and also by the sea.....

I was a bit disappointed with Somers Town. Far too short and despite Meadows saying he was given carte blanche by Eurostar to make their film and they didn't interfere, there seemed to be a feeling at the end of "Hey, look how GREAT it is in Paris! You can afford to come and do this too - after all, if a runaway and an immigrant's son can find the cash to buy a ticket, surely you can!"

Some wonderful touches in the film though. The first sight of "TERRY HENRY" and Tommo's reaction to the Polish food had me howling.
