I've just watched this again for maybe the 10th time tonight with my 13yr old son and laughed my bollocks off once again. It's definately one of my top 5 films of all time! :Hoorah

Believe this or not, but it actually makes me 'feel good'!!

I remember when The Commitments came out at the pictures, I'd just moved to America and was missing the sense of humour from back home...I think I went to the pictures everyday for a week to see this film  Still love it and Roddy Doyle, in fact I bought A Star called Henry last week, but I haven't got round to it yet.

Star called Henry is really good it got a lot of stick when it came out because it wasnt in a simular vein of some of his previous stuff but I enjoyed it.

As for The Commitments its a good film, dated a bit in some ways but still really fun although I really want to punch the head off Glenn Hansard. The Snapper and The Van are also class. Colm Meaney is a great great actor, he used to come into my work as a customer and a nicer more down to earth bloke you'd never meet.

Read that and the next one 'all that jazz' supposed to be a trilogy and still waiting for the third one.

He's the one with the long curly hair (outspan?)

Singer in The Frames, recently won an oscar for his song Falling Slowly from the movie Once

It's a strange Irish phenomenon- a lot of people want to smack him, but they're not sure why

yes the same Colin Meaney he grew up in the same area as me about 2 minutes down the road.

Glenn Hansard played Outspan in the film but he is probably better known to most as the lead warbler with The Frames , he even bagged himself an oscar last year for a song he did with his missus, just always found him a pretentious twat and that was pretty much confirmed when I encountered the bloke in a guitar shop here a while back, not cool. still he's doing quite well for himself now so I doubt he's worried

Probably because he's now more successful. :?
Strange thing that, about Irish people. They like people when they're scrabbling round, squeaking by, but as soon as they 'make it'...
Not nice.
I like Glen Hansard.

I don't know Rita, if you were stood behind him in the Q in that shop and heard what he was coming out with you might change you mind. So the old Irish begrudgers thing eh, sure Rita you can't beat and old generalisations can you eh
