Another sad day. RIP Levi.

If you're not familiar with the man, bring a little magic into your lives and have a listen to anything by The Four Tops.

Amen to that. I just got in the car and 89.3 were playing Billy Bragg's Levi Stubb's Tears. I absolutely love The Four Tops, underrated and overlooked in the Motown catalogue, a far better band than The Temptations in my humblest of opinions. Stubb's dramatic vocals are just jaw-dropping and he should be remembered as a real soul legend.

RIP.

I loved Bernadette as a kid, back in '93 The Four Tops played a concert at the United States Naval Academy...I was there...I was rather drunk and I was surrounded by men in Navy uniforms. as soon as the first notes played I jumped up on my chair and screamed BERNADETTE! like one of those hysterical Beatles fans. I took all eyes off Levi Stubbs for about 3 seconds and felt like a complete twat! (for about a second).

He was one of the greats for me.

A bit of my childhood died too: 'Reach Out' was on the first tape I ever owned (aged about 7) and I played that tape so often it went into my bones. Love to Levi and thanks.

Not my fave Motown act of the classic 60s era, but truly great nonetheless.

My sister had this one which got played a lot (a great version of Light My Fire)...

I prefer their post-Motown 70s stuff, Keeper Of The Castle especially. I think the music on this one suits Levi's voice more than on any album they did.

Walk Away Renee is my favourite......... :D

If I recall rightly Levi also did the soundtrack to the 80's version Little Shop of Horrors - he was the voice of the talking plant - excellent! :D
