Couldn't watch it either, of course. But, I did find this gem on Netflix:

http://fest07.sffs.org/films/film_details.php?id=73

It's at the top of my queue now.

Also found this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthology_ ... Folk_Music

I will have to pick this up some day.

This was great night on front of the telly. Loved the Seasick Steve documentary and gig. The concert from the barbican was really good too, especially that Ausrtralian guy with the banjo. Loved the history of folk music film, great stories, characters and of course music.

Between this and Imelda on the Late Late I was never as glad to be stuck at home on a Friday night

the anthology is a great thing but the cheapest way into that stuff is with this collection and book i think

Image

it's a great book and cd with some of the folk mentioned in that programme

R. Crumb's Heroes of Blues, Jazz, and Country

£7 on amazon, a bargain for the weirdest collection of old obscure eccentric genius.

There's a double DVD set of the American Roots Music series too - it has a nice section on cajun & zydeco music, which is why I originally bought it.
