Incredible story - briefly a guy buys a trunk of negatives and bits and pieces at an auction in Chicago and find it contains the life work of an amateur photographer. Vivian Maier worked as nanny in Chicago during the late fifties and up until the nineties. She left 100,000+ negatives unpublished and many unprinted.

Her street photography is incredible - up there with many of the best of the 20th century. It's amazing considering the times she lived in and the unwieldy camera equipment that was available then.

Well worth a browse if you're a fan of this style of photography. I believe a show of her work is planned for London later this year.

Great video on the 'Chicago Tonight' site: http://www.wttw.com/main.taf?p=42,8,80, ... 2LakYxNa7J

(takes a few seconds to load).

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.
