Only Guy Martin could make a cup of tea by building a blast furnace to make the metal for a cast iron pot to boil the water. He made a couple of wedgwood mugs and chose the tea for the brew. He had help from his mate Mave and they laughed right through the first episode. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00z8jdv

I can't wait for the second show tomorrow. Guy Martin is so eccentric, and a hero of mine on a motorbike. :) He is making engineering history interesting as he fits out a narrowboat using old fashioned techiques.

Episode 1 is here http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... up_of_Tea/

Episode 2 is on tomorrow at 7:30 BBC One and is repeated on Sunday at 6:30. He will be looking at flushing toilets and showers.

I saw the first episode last week. Really enjoyed it, I love his enthusiasm & his whole manner. As I watched I thought he could be a worthy successor to Fred Dibnah, whom I really miss. There just aren't enough people like either of them these days. :thumleft: ..>

yes absolutely loving it. I was a great Fred Dibnah fan (still watch the repeats when they're on) and there are definite similarities. Just love the eccentricity and unpretentiousness. Not enough of this sort of stuff on TV!

Fred Dibnah is a great hero of Guy's. I missed most of tonight's show but it is recorded. I love his enthusiasm. I found myself pronouncing water in the Lincolnshire way this week instead of my usual 'worter'.

I was surprised to find the show on prime time BBC One. It is a great change from the usual rubbbish.

Another interesting episode - including a 'flush off' between six Victorian lavatories :*:

Watched the first episode and loved it! Gonna watch the second episode tonight.

It's my dream to live in a canal boat one day. :D

That sound like a bargain to me.

I went to see the TT3D film last night, which is basically Guy Martin at the TT although a lot of the other riders are featured too. The film was really good, but I would have enjoyed it as much without the 3D effects. I laughed, I cried, and the racing was exciting.

TT3D - I'll look out for that over the weekend!

Had a look at the narrowboat website to find half of the buttys for sale were built at Yarwoods just down the road from me - I knew Northwich had a boat building history but didn't realise how many were put together from a small yard on the banks of the Weaver Navigation in the middle of Cheshire...

We went to Ellesmere Port to watch it in 3D, my eldest son took me to see it, his Mothers Day gift to me. :) We got stuck in rush hour traffic and went from Nantwich via Oulton Park, Northwich then the outskirts of Warrington. We got there in the end, bless him for his navigation skills. :*: Here is a trailer for the film. I strongly recommend it.
