Alright here goes. In my arty farty days i did film studies, had to write lengthy essays on Kurasawa, Sergio Leone and Eisenstein films. Needless to say none of their films are in my list.

'The Apartment'- i love most films Jack Lemons been in.
'Whatever happened to baby Jane'?. Has there ever been an actress like Betty Davies?
'Close Encounters' the only film i went to see at the cinema with my Mum and Dad.
'Saturday Night Fever'. I just love it!
'Trainspotting'.
'Jackie Brown'. My favourite Tarrantino film. I can relate to it even more so now as its about a woman
in middle age with regrets and wondering if life gets any better!
'Carry on screaming'. Just general happy memories of being a kid and laughing till it hurt!

I almost put 'Now Voyager in there! Bette was fantastic, and the thought of her in WHTBJ, with her pig tails and a rat on a plate!!!
Likewise Saturday Night Fever, that narrowly missed out to Dirty Dancing.

In fact 5 isn't enough - my NEXT 5 (chosen for their memorable lines - )

Now Voyager (Bette, smoking her head off, over acting...'Lets not ask for the moon, we have the stars'
Saturday Night Fever 'If you're as good in bed as you are on the dance floor then you're a lousy fuck'
The Man With two Brains - Kathleen Turner, stunnning,'I can't wait.......until a week next Tuesday'
Cool Hand Luke - 'Cool Hand Luke - he's a natural born world shaker'
Stand By Me - Too many brilliant one liners to choose........but 'Mickey is a mouse. Pluto is a dog.Donald's a duck - what the hell is Goofy? always makes me smile. :D

Time to dive head first into my DVD's I reckon!

1. Ice Cold in Alex
2. 12 Angry Men
3. Blues Brothers
4. The Misfits
5. Vertigo

Honourable mentions to Seven Samurai, Airplane!, Life of Brian, Grosse Pointe Blank and Bullitt for the best car chase on film.

Favourite film quote: Donald Sutherland in Kelly's Heroes - "to a New Yorker like you, a hero is some type of wierd sandwich, not some nut who takes on three tigers".

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.
