1 Duck Soup - The Marx Brothers

2 Way Out West - Laurel and Hardy

3 The Gold Rush - Charlie Chaplin

4 Cops - Buster Keaton

5 Mon Oncle - Jacques Tati

but that leaves out a load of other films that I adore and is admittedly a rather niche list

Just watched The Sweeney, not a classic, but I really enjoyed it, may even go in my Top 5.

Ray Winstone is excellent.

:eh? Aaargh! I can never limit it to 5 - so

5 best black and white;
Sunset Boulevard
The Cruel Sea
Night to Remember
Citizen Kane
Brief Encounter

5 best colour
Doctor Zhivago
Lawrence of Arabia
The English Patient
Dances with Wolves
Onegin
And of course,
Carry on Up the Khyber.

AArgh, just remembered This Happy Breed, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gilda, and about another half a dozen i love for different reasons.
