Anyone else following this documentary series currently being shown on BBC4tv? Whilst it follows a similar route to many previous doc's. on the history of rock and roll, this new set of programmes digs a little deeper than most and manages to come up with some new anecdotal recollections from the likes Jerry Lee Lewis, Don Everly and others who were part of the early years of rock'n'roll music.

Anyway, I've found the first two programmes quite interesting. Both episodes available via BBC IPlayer.

An ex-student of mine, Bec Mounsey, was assistant producer on this. I helped her to source one of the songs that was played at Buddy Holly's funeral, which I believe is covered in episode three. In February they went over to Clear Lake Iowa and went up in an identical plane to the one that crashed, before visiting the actual Holly/Valens/Big Bopper crash site and memorial.

Loved the first episode, had sone quibbles with the second but seeing Jerry Lee on Steve Allen was just transcendant with the context built up in the programme..episode 3.. why waste time on Fabian (good sense of humour about himself notwithstanding). So a mixed bag
