The Fall are a band I want to have a listen to. Trouble is, where do you start? When a band is this prolific and this unusual, which album might be the best way in?

Please help!

Ashamed from Bolton.

Start with the earlier stuff & then go from there.

Three I would certainly recommend as a good starting point are Hex Enduction Hour, Bend Sinister & Live at the Witch Trials.

Good luck - hope you get into them. :D

Thanks NickD. But are there any ropey patches to avoid? And what are the best avail bks on the band/Mark E Smith? I know there's a new book out about 'lost'/discarded members of the band (I read a review by Tibor Fischer today who said it was too long & not as revealing as it shd be)...any further elucidation from you or anyone wd be most welcome.
I'm tempted by Bend Sinister if only because it's a title I presume was nicked from Nabokov & I think it's one of the best novel titles ever, although the Carry On part of my brain always associates it with Armitage Shanks.
