Post subject:  cool swedish jazz

hello,

this swedish guy, oskar schonning, is worth a listen. he does really melodic jazz, in the same spirit as bill wells and pascal comelade.

i recommend the track "film".

Yeah...very 'filmtracky'......I'm absolutely ignorant when it comes to 'jazz'
sometimes I don't even know if I really like it........my aunt had a huge collection of jazz vinyl,it belonged to her fancyman who died.....they were always going up to London to 'live' shows.........I hope I can run into somebody someday who can 'explain' and maybe educate me,about jazz I mean.

i'm glad you liked the track. i'm no expert on jazz myself, but i don't feel like i need to be.
i just like oskar's music for what it is; warm and melodic.

I was once at a 'jazz' show...and I got lumbered with some pissed up stooge who kept saying.......... "123,123,123.....it's all improvised you know " and I often wondered if he was actually right........

i'm not nuts about far out improvised stuff. i prefer riffy, melodic jazz. there was some great stuff coming out of poland and germany in the 60s.

krysztof komeda - who did some polanski soundtracks - is worth checking out.

it's a goodie. the music from cul de sac's my favourite, though.

Did you ever read "Roman" by Polanski ? ...Maybe not the easiest book to find now......but a brilliant, honest & disturbing read....
When I lived in Germany, I went to a little "Polanski film night" at this little underground cinema...I watched.... cul de sac / the tenant.......I love to do that..you know watch films by a director you really like back to back.........
