Last week I discovered this extremely talented British musician Clint Mansell through the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi film 'Moon',directed by David Bowie's son Duncan Jones and starring Sam Rockwell. http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/04/09/ ... ones-moon/ The score for the film and the trailer is composed by Clint Mansell.

Then today I watched the 'Requiem for a Dream' DVD I'd bought last month.Clint Mansell composed the film score which in my opinion is one of the reasons why the film is so terrific.Just now I listened to his score for 'The Fountain' on the net and was so moved.I haven't even seen the film but the score blew me away right from the start.I'm definitely going to buy those two soundtrack albums. If you like orchestral film scores,or simply beautiful instrumental music, this musician's work is really worth checking out.

http://www.myspace.com/mansellclint 'Death is the Road to Awe' and 'The Last Man' are hauntingly beautiful.

Listen to the whole album 'The Fountain' at http://www.imeem.com/artists/clint_mans ... ain-album/
You'll probably need to register first but it's free and easy.I'm loving all of his scores. They're all so gorgeous.

Jessie - you might also like Craig Armstrong who does film music.

For some reason his first two albums were put for sale under the Dance section at HMV, As If To Nothing and the Space Between Us are 'normal albums. He did the soundtrack to Ray, Plunkett and Maclaine, part of Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet, some Massive Attack.

And so it is. Its base blasted my office out. And it's my running home music for tonight. Will listen to Dawoodcocks tip in the morning. Thanks.

Yeah he's a great composer.I first noticed his music four years ago - 'Laura's Theme',which was on the Pet Shop Boys' compilation for the 'Back to Mine' series and the one that I played most on that album.I didn't dig further into his back back catalogue as I wasn't very into classical/orchestral music at that moment and there was nowhere I could buy his albums.....I watched 'The Incredible Hulk' two months ago and was really impressed by the score which I later discovered was composed by him.I didn't enjoy the film as much though.I've seen 'Romeo and Juliet',too, but can't remember what the score is like...Thank you for the recommendation. The music on his MySpace sounds truly beautiful.I'm going to find some more.

Indeed. :*: I learned from wikipedia that he was a member of this rock/industrial band Pop Will Eat Itself, whom I'd never heard of before.I watched a couple of their music videos on YouTube yesterday and was really really surprised....:*:

If you go on My Space and search for Craig, then lots of his songs will appear for you to play. I got into him mainly through hearing a song in HMV one evening - the voice was David McAlmont and it was a gorgeous track called Snow. They found me the album and I was hooked. That album is a good one, King Crimson are on Starless II, Evan Dandon on Wake Up in New York, Mogwai on Miracle, Photek on Hymn 2, Bono on Stay and Steven Lindsay on Let It Be Love.

And I agree, the films often don't reach the heights of the music
