Post subject:  The Dolomites

Last week I did a week's walking in the Italian Dolomites. Great weather, stunning scenery and friendly people. (The statue photo, by the way is from a town called Ortisei - sculpture is a cultural trademark of the area. This particular one, from what I could tell from the accompanying sign next to it, is inspired by both Winter Olympians and Science Fiction - a sort of composite mythical hero....that looks a bit like a scarier Jar Jar Binks...)

The last one was taken on the only rainy afternoon - and I missed a soaking, thankfully, by getting back early from up a very big hill....

Wow...that picture with the horse took my breath away - it doesn't look real! (the scenery rather than the horse that is). Looks a great place for sure.

Nice pictures indeed - is that first one HDR processing?

Not in the true sense - I used Nik Color Efx Pro and there's a setting called "Tonal Contrast" which creates a HDR type effect. It's easier to tweak than multi-exposure HDR and the end result isn't too different.
