Looking for a bit of advice from forumers on good places to stay in Glasgow. I am travelling up with my man, sans kids, at the end of May for a mate's birthday. Suited, booted and flouncy dressed, we are going out for a big night on the town. Despite the fact that I think there won't be much sleeping involved, we're looking for somewhere clean and reasonably priced in the middle of town to lay our weary heads after. We don't smoke but my other half has been known to have a fag when he's a bit worse for wear so somewhere he could have a crafty cig in our room would be nice. Suggestions gratefully received. x |

was in Glasgow for work a couple of weeks ago and was put up at the Raddisson which was perfectly central. Not sure about the rates or what your budget is but I'd give it 10/10. Also there is Jury's Inn which is also well situated and you can't really go wrong with that chain. I stay with em when I'm in London and occasionally Manchester. |

I've stayed at two of the Travelodges and both are fine - you know what you're getting in places like those. Functional and clean and not too dear. |

I stayed there in Glasgae - I asked for the top floor with a view of the railway track [it is right by the Station] - the clunking of the trains going by helped me sleep... There's a 'nice' real pub across the road down the side street next to Matalan. |

We've used this hotel last few times we've been up for a concert and have had a quad room, which is enormous and gorgeous. Rates are usually comparable to Travelodge but include a full cooked buffet breakfast. Whatever you do don't stay at the Glasgow Central Travl*dge, it's the pits. Appears to be full of idiots on hen/stag nights causing mayhem in the wee small hours. Last time we stayed there we had full view of a couple shagging up against a rubbish bin outside the place ..euggh! This place might be worth a look - http://www.citizenmglasgow.com |

You must have booked in on a bad night - I stayed there for Celtic Connections and it was as quiet as anything. |

I thought it was the law that you have to stay in the Euro-hostel on jamaica street, no? Afraid other than that I can't recommend anywhere as the last place I stayed in was basically a slum. The carpet bit me. |

If you are going without ankle biters make sure you treat yourself to afternoon tea in the Willow Tea rooms. I'm long overdue a visit. I've a hankering for a visit to Glasgow myself now! (You have to book, can't just turn up, there are two tearooms, you want the one on Sauchiehall street for the authentic Rennie MacIntosh interior) |
