You can't go wrong with St Ives. Beautiful place.

Any recommendations for must see attractions in St Ives?
Off there soon for a long weekend/my sisters wedding.

We arrived in Fowey ... Azure skies without a cloud. The local ale is fantastic and the house we have rented is superb.

We plan to go to St Ives on Tuesday - I'd recommend the Barbara Hepworth museum and the Tate St Ives if you are into art. However, just watching the normal day to day life there is also great - the lifeboat, the fishermen. Oh, and it's hilly there!

Here's the view from the armchair in our bedroom:

If you fancy a drive (or walk) over Bodmin Moor I recommend the Blisland Inn (at Blisland).

Tate is on the list already! Shall probably go to the Barbara Hepworth museum too.

I've packed all my kites, so hills are good

Nice view btw.

St Ives had changed greatly since my last visit which was more years ago than I care to remember. Still not a 'kiss me quick' place, but I thought it had lost some of it's individuality - quite a few bog standard shops you see on any high street, but still some one offs and the views are stunning.

The Barbara Hepworth museum was as atmospheric as I remember, lush greenery from which sculptures suddenly come into focus. Unfortunately Tate St Ives was in the process of installing a new exhibition, so we missed out.

Whilst in Cornwall we also visited the Lost Gardens of Heligan, which were superb.

Finally heading down to the Lizard this week.

Stopping in a place called St Martin. Trip to Kynance Cove is number 1. on the agenda. A spot of fishing, beach with the kid, BBQs, Eden Project, fish food agogo

I may never return.

I love you all if so.

We're going at the beginning of the school holidays – Charlestown first, Lizard, then Treen. Let me know if you come up with any good tips. Have a lovely time. x

Did you miss me? Just back from two magical weeks in Cornwall. Ended up in Treen, a little hamlet near Porthcurno, which had the most amazing beach I have ever seen in the UK. Beautiful turquoise water, clean white sand, hardly any people. Time seemed to stand still. I swam in the sea with mackerel and sea bass round my feet, we saw seals and dolphins, badgers, buzzards and an adder. We walked the coastal path from Lands End, dropping down into deserted little coves and fishing harbours. We ate seaweed and mint picked from the hedgerows and drank elderflower champagne made by a seasoned forager. We saw The Grapes of Wrath at the Minack theatre, with the rain pounding against our faces, with my boys open mouthed in shock at the final heart-breaking scene. On the trip down, we visited a foodbank (the place is wildly beautiful but really poor) and had a cup of tea at a ‘shanty town’ of tents, housing kids working for the minimum wage in cafés and restaurants where David Cameron takes his ‘staycation’. How the other half holidays.

All being equal, I just fell in love with the place. Hook, line and sinker. We are all freckly and brown and are missing the sea – no more sand in our shoes or salt on our lips. We feel like we’ve been away for months and the life in the real world all seems a bit colourless and too frantic.

Sure that things will be back to normal in a week or so but had such a lovely time. Thank you to all that suggested places to go and see. Xxxxx

I think a holiday slides presentation pre Roundhouse gig is a winner - or maybe at the after party...whatever an after party is...

Ah, Helen, that's hands down my favourite novel. EVER. There are sentences in that book that take my breath away. Sometimes I have to stop reading while I take them in. He makes me cry. Absolutely wonderful.

See you in Oct!
