Didnt know whether to post this but lost my dad at xmas. Lost is exactly how I feel and I hope nobody feels this pain. Sorry to be public but its therapeutic and helps me. My dad was 73 (age doesnt matter) and I miss him.

Don't really know what to say Pete, but glad you posted this - don't ever worry about talking about your Dad, he'll always be around, even though he's not around, if you know what I mean. It does take time to get your head around it all. Take care, Lofty x

Hi Pete,

It's good that you talked about it if you felt like doing so. Fortunately, I haven't gone through a parent's loss yet, but I know that in certain bitter moments, a few virtual pats on the back from people most of whom you've never met may be of some help, strange as it may seem. It's been so in my case some time, and I hope it's so in yours. Because I deeply regret your loss, and hope you'll get over it sooner than you now think possible. All my best wishes to you.

Really feel for you; that horrible rawness does eventually subside but it takes a while. It's five years next month since my dad died at the age of 79. I can now remember without being sad all the time and lots of memories make me smile now. The folk on this forum helped me massively through a really bad year - although most of them probably didn't know it at the time).

I didn't reply to your post Pete because this is a subject i am only too familiar with and didn't want to upset you in anyway by handing out advice etc over the internet on such a personal matter when you were so raw about your dad's passing,i just wanted to say i hope your ok and finding life getting a little better every day, parental loss is such an awful thing to go through but eventually, for me anyway, the grimness recedes into your mind and all the time's you spent together come to the fore, best wishes Pete and to any of our little forum world who have lost someone dear to them......shine on brothers and sisters and make em proud of us ..>
