You have just freaked me out! - had a tearful conversation with Samantha over the weekend - being practical about making a will - having funeral arrangements ready and all that stuff - and this is where we want our ashes scattered!

We scattered the ashes of the real poppy dog just about where your photo was taken where the sand meets the rocks near Bamburgh Golf Club back in November 07.

I have never visited that area, I have it high on a list of places to see, one day.

wow that is spooky....sorry about that!

Sounds like Bamburgh Beach is actually ashes rather than sand.......

Top place though...it was freezing cold last week when I was there - I had two coats on walking on the beach - and it was the best thing! I can't think of anything better......been a fave location for over 30 years.....anyone who has never been there- just go!

I watched a programme about ashes......there are over three hundred thousand unclaimed urns of ashes in Britain, mainly because folks just don't know what to do with them but also because they are actually toxic.....don't bury them with a rose or a tree seed....it won't grow the ashes kill it and infect the soil so nothing will grow........ ...........morning campers.....

cheery soul aren't i?.....but its true.....

That looks like a lovely spot to have great times in your life..........where is it?

Thanks for that Richard...not sure it's true - we scattered my daughter's ashes under an ornamental cherry tree in our garden 15 years ago ...and it is still ok....

Bamburgh Castle is in Northumberland.......County of Castles.......

Beautiful spot Jean but hope you're not planning popping off anytime soon. Really like all the pictures of your travels. Love a good beach – but never really go east, don't know why. Think it's a sunrise, sunset thing.

And on the cheery subject of certain death and mortal disposal, have had a bit too much experience of the options over the last year for various horrendous reasons. Lost my beautiful friend and we gave him a woodland burial, which is the way I want to go. Wicker basket, in the woods, with more life growing from your soul.

Anyway, without wishing to spark a discussion about death on this loveliest of threads, your pictures are always beautiful Jean so don't be giving any of us anything to worry about anytime soon. xxx

Thanks Helen......I don't plan on going for at least another 40 years....gotta get my telegram from Prince William...haha

..and I much prefer the East Coast......Whitby, Filey, Robin Hood's Bay and then up here in Northumberland........in fact I change my ashes destination so often there has been a suggestion that I end up in a series of salt pots and be scattered all over the place.......I rather like that idea!

I want to be fired up in one of those firework mortars from the roof of an air raid shelter / gun position that's in the scrubland near Bambo Castle.

I am more used to the Wales coast as that is the nearest stretch of sea to me - discounting the Wirral as it is more on the estuary than the sea.

I have been to the East Coast in Scotland, and have visited Scarborough and Suffolk and Norfolk. I don't think I have been in colder sea than at Scarborough, I couldn't feel my feet after a few minutes, and that was in August.

Tend to agree with that Jean. My Other Half is neath an Oak in the National Forest, which is thriving. My Dad, on the other hand, is still in the wardrobe  :?
