Had a great time so far in New York and Atlanta- pretty much avoided touristy things not on purpose but its just the way it happened- seen lots of great music- went down to Asbury Park to see a show at the Stone Pony- met some great people too- meant to go back to NYC tonight fr Atlanta- but flight cancelled so back in Atlanta for another night and off again tmrw morning- flying to london tmrw night though so hopefully no more delays or they will feel my international wrath ;)

No fret - I have landed a post that involves one day a week in London - so if your based anywhere near Farringdon - I'll buy you a pint and give you the low down on everyone

Actually I'll probably say 'hiya' buy you a pint then stare out of the window lookin' at folks with my gob open - not used to these big bustlin' places.

We don't want Craig's hairy baboon bottom down these parts. Put me off me pie and mash.

According to The Londonist, which is a good source of information on these matters, the best pubs in Farringdon and Clerkenwell are:
1. The Jerusalem Tavern
2. The Three Kings
3. Gunmakers
4. The Craft Beer Company
5. The Slaughtered Lamb
6. The Dovetail
=7. The Betsey Trotwood
=7. The Crown
9. Ye Olde Mitre
10. The Fox and Anchor
But I can't recall being in any of them but that doesn't mean that I haven't. x

Anywhere that does cold lager at £2.65 a pint is fine by me - I fell into the Eastnor Castle [Camden South sort of] the other day - and was expecting £4.00+ a pint - the Landlord pointed out it was happy hour until 7.00 pm [4 hours away] and £2.65 was the price - the Olympic boxing was on TV - a guy asked me if I had ever been a boxer [I thought 'oh shit'] - I replied 'I gave up boxing at the age of 10 - as my Dad said it would mean I could end up in prison' [true story].... - turned out to be the right answer  - I left a couple of pints later - but could have stayed until 7.00 pm.

Spookily - the 'Old Cheshire Cheese' is a spit away from my future work place.

Gunmakers sounds the biz tho'...

Slaughtered Lamb and Betsey Trotwood both have gigs on, Slaughtered Lamb definitely has lots of decent stuff on regularly. That said i've never been to either so the beer might be rubbish and they'll be full of cockneys, but you can at least hear some good tunes now and again.
