Any walkers on here? (I said walkers...)I try to get out in the Peak District as much as I can (it's nearby) and have done a few of the long distant paths - Cumbria Way, Dales way, Great Glen way, Cotswolds Way etc. Racked up a few blisters. Have had the good fortune to walk in the Dolomites and the Colorado Rockies too. Went up the so-called Great Ridge dividing the Hope valley and the Edale valley on Sunday.

Any other outdoors types on here? Where are your favourite walks? One of my favourite local ones is to the Green Knight's Cave near the Roaches outside Leek, which is about 20 minutes' drive away from my house.

Get yourself up to Scotland. (Oh here he goes again, I hear you all cry). Before I resembled an egg, I used to do a few of the munros up there. Check out an teallach. A stunning walk.

We are not far from the Peak District. We have driven past the Roaches but never stopped. Maybe we can go there when the weather gets better. We don't do long walks and I'm not good at going uphill as I get older. :( We had a nice walk along the canal near Nantwich yesterday, canals and Cheshire tend to be flat.

It's worth a trip down to Tittesworth reservoir at the foot of the Roaches - very flat, tea-rooms, a short walk to pubs, and if you turn off the Buxton road, coming from Leek, the Three Horseshoes pub does fine food.

How big is the car park - I don't want to be walking to far...

A Hawley fan and FB pal is a keen walker - and I love to see his pics as posted to FB - maybe I should change my ways - 15 years ago I would think nothing of walking nearly 20 miles a week <round golf courses>

We like birdwatching, Tittesworth is on my list of places to visit. We walked to Three Shires Head on two different paths years ago, and visit the Goyt Valley more than anywhere else.

We are going to Scotland in June so will plan a few short walks in the Cairngorms and Speyside area.

slioch is a 16 mile round trip up a couple of munros, suilven a tricky 22 mile round trip or you can kayak in part of the way.

Last time I got in a kayak, I just went round in a circle. I can do Canadian canoes, but kayaks - no.
