Probably the grandest venue north of La Scala Milan and south of Sunderland Locarno .

As taken from the Buxton Opera House website

F - A - B!! Two tickets just booked for the RH gig in February! :Hoorah Glasgow is miles nearer, but the Buxton venue is so magnificent that we just had to come. Just need to book some accommodation. Any recommendations?

I am near enough to travel home after, although it would be lovely to stay overnight. Buxton is a touristy place so there should be somewhere nice to stay. Try here http://www.enjoyengland.com/ or http://www.visitbuxton.co.uk/accommodation.htm

An interesting fact about Buxton - the dome on the former Devonshire Royal Hospital in Buxton replaced the Dome of the Pantheon in Rome as the largest dome in the world in 1881. The Dome at the Pantheon had been the largest for more than 1600 years. Well I think it is interesting anyway.

I found a 360 degree view of the inside of the opera house. Here is the link. It took a while to load, but my PC is running very slowly tonight. We have tickets in the 3rd row from the front, I am so looking forward to February.

my ex missus was a junior doctor there many years ago, and there was a full snooker table in the dome for the patients to use. there was a square of wood in the centre of the floor where you could do that weird thing of whispering and hearing it reflected straight back to you.!!

If you're off to Buxton book your accommodation soon - it's filling up fast. Looks like the Ros*leigh is going to be RH headquarters!
