Yes - the North Yorkshire Coast does offer something better than Hastings!

The Hotel looks very interesting - did the White Rabbit deliver your breakfast hamper?

I love Hastings!!! :( Used to spend my summer hols there as a kid, we were very poor you see!
Yes the hamper was delivered outside our door complete with gingham tablecloth, boiled eggs, cheese scones, fruit cake?? yogurt, coffee, juice. A bit weird I suppose but I liked it for being different.
Didn't bother with Magpie cafe, queues were ridiculous. Went to homemade pie& mash shop instead which was lovely.....& it had Henderson's relish on the table. :Oink:

Sounds a really good breakfast, although not being a true Yorkshire man I would probably have had the fruit cake with mid-morning coffee. I think your Hastings was probably my childhood "Cleethorpes" - it also seemed wonderful back in the day! :D
The trick with the Magpie is to book over the telephone in advance and walk straight in past the queue.

We usually stop in cottages but we have stayed at the Sunnyvale House on Normanby Terrace on the west cliff and that was excellent. It was 4/5 years ago though.

Thanks Steve, like the look of that & Dillons so will have to do a bit of a recce before we go. Better leave it a couple of weeks though so the pubs can re stock after your visit :P
