A nice review here -

Richard Hawley - Truelove's Gutter ****

THE Sheffield crooner's sixth album is both his most traditional and most experimental yet. Gone are the rousing rockabilly anthems of its predecessor Lady's Bridge, leaving the hushed ballads more reminiscent of his earlier material. But his new offerings are, on the whole, longer and - fortified in places by a plentiful string section - meander into uncharted musical territory. His voice, more transatlantic than ever, takes the lead in many tracks as if he's resting his head on your shoulder and singing the heartfelt lyrics right into your ear. :D

Bit of a mix up, so my CD arrived by mail today..., so I had to avoid the board and music conversation for a few days and check the delivery schedule a few times (isn't it amazing, tracking things thing online, from some depot to here) and I even waited further still until the late afternoon to listen, when it had to compete with some very loud late September birds on a beautiful day (which sounded like part of it all).

I don't have words for how gorgeous this music is. I'm just glad I'm on the planet at this moment, to share this.

It's a very mixed list, if I can find a link to it later, I'll add it here so you can all see it. It's basically down to what the writers for Q magazine think of the music so far this year and may not match our idea of what is good/bad/indifferent.
